I was waiting for my wife, Kira, on Friday night. She was supposed to be home from work and a date with her boyfriend. They worked at the same company. Ronnie was a black guy who didn’t mind fucking my wife anywhere. And then the door slammed a little louder than usual. Kira showed up. I was sitting in the dimly lit kitchen scrolling through social media.
- Hi, honey! – Kira’s voice was soft, almost gentle. She passed me by without even glancing dropping her handbag on a chair. She smelled of someone else’s men’s perfume, cigarettes and sex.
- How was your day? – I asked quietly hating myself for asking that question every time.
Kira stopped at the refrigerator, pulled out a bottle of water, and took a few sips. Then she turned and looked at me as if for the first time that evening she’d noticed I existed.
- Fine. And you? Have you been jerking off to other people’s Instagram photos all day at the office again?
My cheeks flushed. I looked down at the floor. She chuckled.
